Mrs. Backhouse had taken some time out of her weekend to visit her folks on the other side of town – I was home alone so decided to record the week’s installment of The Parish News Radio Show. Much the same as most weeks – yes, I do pause between each track before I talk but in this busy world sometimes the bravest thing to do is to be still. I still need to learn how to pronounce a lot of the artists with non-english names. This is quite a bone of contention for me – I am worried I may be offending someone by saying their name wrong, or at worse saying a different word.

True story: I once went to a bar in China and asked for a Child molester instead of asking for a beer, by accident. The pronunciation of ‘Beer’ and ‘kiddy fiddler’ in Dinghai (the town I used to teach in) was too much for my ignorant English tongue to decypher. Still – at the time we laughed it off.
